When to Call Our Office

  • Uncontrolled bleeding that doesn't stop with pressure.
  • Severe pain that is not relieved by prescribed medication.
  • Sudden or extensive swelling around the surgical site.
  • Santa Rosa: (707) 755-6818 | Petaluma: (707) 755-6818

Universal Recovery: What to Expect After Your Visit

  • If You Are Numb: To avoid biting your cheek, lip, or tongue, please refrain from eating or drinking hot liquids until the anesthetic has completely worn off.
  • Managing Discomfort: It is normal to experience some sensitivity or soreness. We generally recommend taking over-the-counter Ibuprofen (Advil/Motrin) or Acetaminophen (Tylenol) before the numbness fades, as directed by Dr. Vasquez-Garcia.
  • Activity & Rest: For most restorative or surgical procedures, avoid strenuous physical activity for the first 24 hours to allow your body to begin the healing process.
  • Dietary Care: Stick to soft foods (yogurt, lukewarm soup, mashed potatoes) and avoid using straws or smoking for at least 24–48 hours if you have had an extraction or deep cleaning.
  • Oral Hygiene: Continue to brush and floss your other teeth, but be very gentle around the treated area. Do not rinse vigorously unless specifically instructed in your procedure PDF.
